The Stearman Flying Wire is a quarterly magazine published by the Stearman Restorers Association (SRA), an organization dedicated to the preservation and appreciation of Stearman aircraft. Targeting members who are predominantly pilots and aviation history enthusiasts aged 55 and above, the magazine features articles on restoration tips, authenticity data, safety issues, flying techniques, historical items, event schedules, fly-in activities, and updates on members' Stearman projects.
As the art director for the Stearman Flying Wire, I am responsible for the entire design process using Adobe Creative Suite. My responsibilities include designing the magazine layout, coordinating with board members to arrange advertisements and member submissions, and managing the proofing and printing processes with external vendors. By maintaining a cohesive and visually appealing design, I aim to enhance the reader's experience and effectively communicate the rich content that resonates with our audience.
